THE WORKSHOP
Conceived in a 4-6 month workshop format, The Bernier Dance Theater Workshop (BDTW) will collaborate in the creation of new works to be performed in New York City outdoor spaces and parks in the spring, summer and fall. (Indoor and theater venues will also be considered). Rehearsals will take place weekly on Wednesdays from 6-9 PM at a Manhattan studio.
Movement queries and games will be used as a warm-up to the rehearsal. Although improvisation is part of the creative process, choreography will mostly be set to music (live or recorded) with costumes/props.
Unlike ‘Site Specific’ works, the BDTW artists will respond spontaneously to the uniqueness of each location and audience by spatially morphing the choreography.
